Job Fair 2

Tuesday's Employment, Education and Record Expungement Event at Abundant Living Family Church High Desert was a resounding success, with more than 330 individuals in attendance.

The event — a collaboration between our First District Office, San Bernardino County Workforce Development Board, the San Bernardino County Public Defender's Office, VVC, and Abundant Living Family Church — gave residents an opportunity to clear their criminal records and interview with top High Desert employers, some of which were hiring on the spot.

Among the 40+ businesses on site were Amazon, Arden Companies, Big Lots Distribution, Corky's, HK Logistics, LKQ Corporation, Keurig Dr. Pepper, International Aerospace Coatings, Robertsons Ready Mix, and more. San Bernardino County Fire and the Sheriff's Department were also on hand.

"I have participated in many successful hiring events in the past, but this has been the best!" said Ralph Garcia, Human Resource Manager at Arden Companies. Garcia interviewed 55 individuals on Tuesday and invited several back for a plant tour and second round of interviews.

Daniel Towles, Regional Operations Manager at Corky's Kitchen & Bakery, echoed the excitement. “This event allowed us to meet and share Corky’s career opportunities with 25 people," he said. "We interviewed 15 of those on the spot and made 10 job offers!”

Public Defender Thomas Sone said his office was able to assist 170 High Desert residents with expungement services.
