Mohahve Historical Society Hosting Driving Tour
June 23, 2021
The Mohahve Historical Society will host a driving tour of 11 historic local monuments at 6 p.m. Friday, June 25.
"Guests and new members are always welcome," said Marcy Taylor, founder of the Apple Valley Legacy Museum.
Attendees will meet on Turner Road at the Desert Springs Ranch. Some of the stops will include the Lane's Crossing monument, Mormon Springs monument, Historic Bridges of the Mojave, Mojave Indian Trail and Temple Rock -- among others. The tour will not include the Chuck Yeager monument, Camp Cajon, or Palisades Ranch Museum.
"We are in the process of refurbishing several monuments. Two badly damaged monuments will be getting granite plaques," said Taylor.
The society is selling $5 booklets of the monuments, which can be purchased in advance or on the day of the tour. All participants will receive driving directions. Members are free; non-members pay $2.
Historical society membership applications are available at the Apple Valley Legacy Museum, Cottage 153, or at the Victor Valley Legacy Museum, 16492 Seventh St., Victorville. Cost is $20 single, or $30 per couple or family. Lifetime memberships are also available.
