The County of San Bernardino has been working towards updating the goals and policies used to guide decision-making on housing in the County. The Draft Housing Element contains the proposed goals and policies for the next eight years (October 15, 2021- October 15, 2029).

Those goals and policies are based on a comprehensive evaluation of existing housing programs and policies and an analysis of housing characteristics, an assessment of fair housing issues and describes the challenges and resources for housing development.

The Housing Element has been designed to address key housing issues in the County. These issues include the provision of a mix and balance of housing types and costs to meet the needs of all segments of the community while enhancing and preserving the character of our communities, the provision of affordable housing for special needs groups, the promotion of fair housing for all residents, and the maintenance of the existing affordable housing stock.

The County is requesting your input on the Draft Housing Element and Technical reports to ensure appropriate housing strategies are more efficiently and effectively evaluated, developed, and implemented.

The draft Housing Element will be heard before the Board of Supervisors on Sept. 27. The Draft Housing Element and technical report can be found on the Land Use Services website.

Please submit your comments for consideration by Monday, Sept. 26. You may submit your comments via e-mail at  PlanningCommissionComments@lus.sbcounty.gov or via mail to Land Use Services, 385 N. Arrowhead Avenue, 1st floor, San Bernardino CA, 92415.
