Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area will host its annual Apple Fest on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Did you know that the area's historic Apple Orchard originated from the small town of Cedar Springs, which now lies underneath the lake? Residents of the town were relocated in 1960 to construct the Cedar Springs dam, which created Silverwood Lake.

During the Apple Fest, guests can gather apples to make fresh apple cider, take a tour of the historic orchard, learn about the area's history of apple farming, and enjoy crafts and interactive booths! The event runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is free with park admission.
