District Director Kimberly Mesen attended last week’s Barstow-Needles Traffic Alliance meeting where CHP provided an update on the Safety Corridors Campaign.

Both the CHP Needles and Barstow divisions have seen a great reduction in fatal and injury crashes since starting operations on October 1, 2021.

The 12-month grant, provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, has allowed both divisions to conduct enhanced enforcement operations along Interstates 15 and 40. Officers have focused on reducing crashes associated with the three primary crash factors: speeding, improper turning and wrong side of road violations. The campaign ends on September 30, 2022.

Thank you to Lt. Ronald Burch and Officer Clinton Burrows for including us in this meeting, and to the departments for keeping two of the nation’s busiest highways safe for all travelers!
