Memorial Day Ceremonies Planned Throughout First District

Every Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while proudly serving our country.

I’m honored to be speaking at this year’s Memorial Day Ceremony in the Apple Valley Civic Center Park Amphitheater. During the event, we will recognize local and national heroes while remembering all those who served and died fighting for our freedoms. I hope you’ll be able to join us for this very special event, which runs from 8 a.m. until noon. This event will include a “Fill the Hill” activity, with 300 American flags available for families to tie a message to in memory of a loved one. Civic Center Park is located at 14999 Dale Evans Parkway, Apple Valley. For more information, please call 760-240-7000 ext. 7882.

The community of Wrightwood will host its Memorial Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the Wrightwood Veterans Memorial. The hour-long program will include patriotic music, a wreath laying, readings by Lt. Colonel Ron Harris, UCMC (Ret) and a dedication of Memorial Bricks in the courtyard. The Wrightwood Veterans Memorial is on Evergreen Road, between Park Drive and Pine Street in Wrightwood. All are welcome to attend.

Lone Wolf Colony is hosting a Veterans Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 29. A ceremony will be held following the breakfast. Lone Wolf Colony is located at 23200 Bear Valley Road. For more information, please call 760-247-7878.
