U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Planning Restoration Barrier at Mojave River Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is planning a restoration barrier at Mojave River Dam to protect endangered species, such as the arroyo toad, and their habitats.

“We don’t want to prevent hikers or people on horses from having access to the trails,” said Ranger Connie Chan Le. “Our main focus is folks who are illegally trespassing on OHVs, bikes, and ATVs which aren't supposed to be in this critical habitat area.”

Aside from OHV damage, other issues include vehicle accidents and vandalism. 

The park rangers urge OHV drivers to use legal trail systems managed by the U.S. Forest Service and Southern California Mountains Foundation.
