CHP Mojave Station Offers Six Safety Tips For Railroad Crossings

CHP Mojave, which covers portions of the First District near Trona, is warning the public about the dangers of railroad crossings. When near a crossing, please follow these six safety tips. 

  1. Always expect a train.
  2. Trains move in either direction at anytime.
  3. The only safe place to cross tracks is at designated public crossings with a crossbuck, flashing red lights or a gate.
  4. Never try to beat a train! Never pass flashing lights or go around lowered gates.
  5. Stay off railroad bridges and trestles. Stay out of railroad tunnels.

Stay alert around railroad tracks. Avoid Distractions.
