During Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors Meeting we approved a Light Trespass Ordinance that will help regulate light pollution and preserve our County’s dark skies. This will be especially beneficial to our desert and mountain communities.

The ordinance, which will take effect over the next two years, aims to minimize light pollution by regulating outdoor lighting and direct glare, in addition to setting reasonable outdoor lighting curfews and limiting extremely bright lighting.

Commercial and industrial properties will have 18 months to reach compliance. All other properties will have 24 months.  To learn more, please call San Bernardino County Land Use Services at 909-387-8311.
