Sheriff's Dive Team Participates in Colorado River Underwater Cleanup
October 20, 2021
The SBCSD Colorado River Station/Needles Dive Rescue team recently joined Mohave County Sheriff, Lake Havasu Police Department, Arizona Game and Fish Division and Bureau of Land Management for the 3rd annual Steamboat Cove Underwater Cleanup.
Divers removed anchors, sunglasses, old liquid bottles, aluminum cans, beads, towels, and other various articles of trash from the bottom of the Colorado River.
The Sheriff's dive rescue team trains monthly at different locations, including Silverwood Lake, the Colorado River and Lake Arrowhead, to make sure their skills and equipment are maintained and ready. They are responsible for rescue operations, body recovery, and evidence recovery, all in waters with very limited or no visibility. They also answer the call from neighboring counties when help is needed.
Thanks to our Dive Team for all they do to keep our waterways safe!
