Last week, San Bernardino County Fire Station 14 and the Wrightwood Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) teamed up for their monthly drill, focusing on incident rehabilitation.

According to the department, “Firefighter rehab is a vital service, providing firefighters and other emergency personnel with cooling, rehydration and monitoring on an emergency scene. Firefighters who are not provided adequate rest and rehydration during emergency operations or training exercises are at increased risk for illness or injury, and may jeopardize the safety of others on the incident scene.”

Wrightwood CERT is one of many CERT teams located in the First District. These community volunteers are a vital part of emergency responses during disasters. The teams are responsible for caring for themselves, their families and their communities while awaiting first responders. County Fire OES CERT members meet regularly in their community and participate in several events throughout the year.
