Possession of any type of fireworks, including “safe and sane” fireworks, is illegal in unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County. Here in the First District, “Safe and Sane” fireworks are only allowed in the cities of Adelanto and Needles.

The San Bernardino County Fire Marshal's office recently teamed up with Victorville Fire Department in a targeted illegal fireworks interdiction. Approximately 5 tons of illegal fireworks were confiscated last weekend alone!

According to San Bernardino County Fire Department, the fine for possession of illegal fireworks is up to $5,000. Parents will be held responsible for any damages or injuries caused by their children’s use of illegal fireworks.

The San Bernardino County Illegal Fireworks Reporter, winner of a 2021 NACo award, is a community-based program that allows residents to report the location of illegal fireworks activity and sales to San Bernardino County Fire officials.
