County Earns 60 NACo Achievement Awards; 'New Hope' Program Among the 2021 Winners
June 09, 2021
I’m excited to announce that San Bernardino County has been honored with 60 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards – coming in just second to LA County for the most awards received in California.
High Desert Abundant Living Church’s “New Hope” program, a collaboration with the San Bernardino County Public Defender's Office, won in the "Criminal Justice and Public Safety" category.
"The collaboration bridges a gap by providing services to clients that the Public Defender social workers cannot provide, including transportation and financial assistance with housing," said Public Defender Thomas Sone. "This program not only prevents recidivism and assists indigent clients with reentry needs, but also guides individuals towards a path of achieving self-sufficiency and well-being."
“We are very excited and thankful to receive this award,” said Abundant Living Pastor Mark Graham. In addition to providing transportation and housing, Abundant Living also assists individuals with referrals to social and rehabilitative services, and helps them navigate their probation terms and conditions.
Congratulations to Abundant Living and San Bernardino County Public Defender — along with all of our County's 2021 NACo award winners!
