Do you, or someone you know, need to arrange childcare due to a military family member’s deployment to a foreign country? Starting January 1, 2021, Paid Family Leave (PFL) expanded to cover qualifying family affairs arising from a military family member’s deployment. An eligible California worker can take time off work and receive up to eight weeks of PFL partial wage-replacement benefits.

These new benefits will cover time taken off by a military family member to attend military events, make child care or parental care arrangements, or take care of an urgent need during a family member’s call to covered active duty.  For an overview of the program, click here.
