Vice-Chairman Cook Proclaims April 23-29 As Crime Victims' Rights Week
May 03, 2023
Last week, I was honored to once again join San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson and Bureau of Victim Services Chief Flerida Alarcón for the 2nd annual High Desert Crime Victims’ Memorial.
During the event, I was pleased to present a Proclamation designating April 23-29 as Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Our annual Crime Victims' Memorial is an important way to raise awareness about crime victims' issues and rights, advocate for survivors, and remember friends or family members who have lost their lives to violent crime.
The Bureau of Victim Services, run by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, provides crime victims with access to comprehensive quality services. This includes crisis counseling, emergency services, resource referrals, orientations to help them better understand the criminal justice system, compensation for expenses, and court advocacy/assistance.
Thank you to everyone who attended our Memorial to offer their support, compassion and resources to our local crime victims. Following are a few local agencies providing services related to domestic violence and crime victim support.
